ISLAND
EXPERIENCES.
Something for the restless, the relaxed, and everyone in between.

Do everything, or nothing at all
While many guests come to Cempedak simply to unwind, there’s a wide range of activities for those feeling more energetic. Most activities are complimentary, and guests are free to use the equipment as often and as long as they like. Charges only apply for more advanced equipment or specialist activities such as diving. Many of our team are experienced sailors, divers, and rock climbers, and are always happy to help guests try something new.

Sailing
Our staff in the boathouse will rig the boats for you and will even be happy to give you a short lesson.

Windsurfing
Equipment can be borrowed free of charge and the team will help you set it up.
Diving
Availability depends on conditions, and divers must be certified, as we don’t offer courses. The best conditions are typically from March to June and September to November.
Jetty Jumping
Awaken your inner child. Please speak with a member of staff before
jumping off the jetty so that they can inform you of tides and also
lower the ramp for easy access.
Pool
There is a communal pool at the boathouse along with loungers and a bartender on standby.
ROCK SPA

The Rock Spa is famous for its stunning panoramic views over the sea and mangroves. We recommend booking in advance as it is often fully booked. Treatments include a range of massages, facials, manicures, and pedicures, with varying durations.
TULISAN NUSANTARA

Tulisan Nusantara is our writers’ residency program. Each year, published writers from across the region are invited to spend time on the island, drawing inspiration from the natural world and the stories of the Riau Islands.
During their stay, residents explore ideas connected to place, identity, and culture. Guests may spot them working in quiet corners of the island or join open readings and informal discussions when held. Each residency leaves behind a piece of writing, which will be gathered into an anthology over time.
